Job Description

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Recreation Manager -Aquatics, acts as receptionist for the City of St. George swimming facilities and is the first point of contact with the general public

Essential Functions (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. 1. Greets public in a courteous and professional manner.

2. Responds to public inquiries providing accurate information regarding recreation programs and services.

3. Answers phones and directs calls to appropriate recreation staff.

4. Operates and balances cash register drawer daily.

5. Checks patrons into Aquatic Facilities, registers participants for activities, makes facility reservations, and performs money handling duties according to city and division policies and procedures.

6. Manages on-site concessions, including preparing foods and restocking merchandise.

7. Provides light cleaning, including vacuuming, dusting, light window cleaning, and organization of work area.

8. Organizes, cleans, and maintains the lost and found.

9. Washes and dries facility towels.

10. Copies and prepares various brochures, flyers, schedules, rosters, etc. for distribution.

11. Checks vehicles each night to ensure cleanliness and security.

12. Works special events as assigned.

13. Distributes and maintains records of all recreational equipment.

14. Runs errands as needed.

15. Promotes pass sales by informing patrons of pass options.

16. Attends scheduled meetings with management and staff.

17. Performs other related duties as required.

Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions

Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment. Requires the use of vision and/or hearing to identify and evaluate emergencies. Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies. Requires moderately heavy physical activity exerting 25-60 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently. Mental demands of intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.

Note: Must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, split shifts, and other schedules to help prepare for recreation offerings. This is a part-time position with variable hours averaging less than 28 hours per week over a period of twelve months.


Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications Office Clerical Worker I

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Licenses and/or Certifications:

● Must be Workplace CPR/AED, First Aid certified within 60 days of hire which must be maintained throughout employment.

Qualifications Office Clerical Worker II

Licenses and/or Certifications:

● Possess a valid driver license. A valid Utah Driver License must be obtained within 60 days of hire and be maintained throughout employment.

● Must be Workplace CPR/AED, First Aid certified within 60 days of hire which must be maintained throughout employment.
